Hey Everyone.

Well with the 2nd week finally complete, I’ve got boat loads of homework and a Criminal Law quiz coming up. For students that plan to attend BCIT, be prepared for the course load to pick up usually within the 2nd to 3rd week. One of the reasons why BCIT is such a great school is because they really push you. And you really get to understand the length of work and effort it takes to be successful in your chosen field.

I’m taking a very interesting class this semester, which is mandatory for all students within the Forensic Program. The class is called Research Methodology (FSCT 7910), which is a class you must take before you start your graduation project. It’s an interesting class since it’s really all about researching for a project and using statistics to analyze results and findings. I find it interesting mostly because, as Computer Crime students we don’t go into statistics very much. You might look at stats if you’re talking about encryption patterns, which you will slightly touch in FSCT 8580. However, it’s interesting to view research studies with all of the various variables and values. And, it gives you an insight visually as a graph to see what is going on with certain studies and results.

This class prepares all Forensic students for their graduation projects. I’ve just started this class, so therefore, I can’t fully comment on the class. But, we are using very high end statistic software to analyze and plot out our data results. I haven’t chosen my research topic yet, though I am leaning towards something to do with Cyber Bullying. There seems to be a huge problem at the moment on the Internet regarding Cyber Bullying. I’m sure everyone has heard of the Amanda Todd case, which was pretty much related to a cyber-bullying case. Hopefully, this study will that I take part in will give a new perspective towards this problem and its possible solution(s).

I still have yet to get my text book for my research class, as I ended up learning the bookstore closes much earlier on Friday’s. The extended hours only are in effect for Monday – Thursday within the first 2 weeks of classes. So, it looks like I will need to wait till Monday to get my textbook for my Research class since. And, the bookstore isn’t open on weekends either which also delay’s the process. So learn from my mistake and visit the bookstore earlier!

Well that’s all for this week folks. There is much more to come shortly, and particularly more about my class called Criminal Law 2.
