Hey everyone!

It’s been awhile since I last made a post here and it feels like forever.

As the semester is rolling up to the end, it means finals are research papers are all due.
I finished up with our Criminal Law final this week and it was one VERY long 3 hour exam. It is probably one exam where many people actually spent the full 3 hours of the allotted time. And, we get to have more fun next semester learning more Law, but now relating it more towards evidence.  For any future students taking the Forensics program or planning on applying in the future. I would recommend that you take some form of criminology or law classes beforehand. Or at the very least, learn about the Criminal laws within Canada and how the legal system functions.

For example, knowing what the role of the crown and defence is along with their duties. Some other aspects such also are, jury duty and the Canadian criminal code.  It definitely is one course I enjoyed a lot, just because it was very interesting to learn about our justice system. We’re always complaining about how out system sucks and it seems to be broken. But after this class you will learn why some cases take forever to conclude. I guess I have a lot of respect for lawyers, judges, witnesses and everything that goes into our justice system.

As a field trip you will also get to enter into a live court room, and see what really goes on in a real court case. Now this field trip isn’t mandatory in class, and is a completely voluntary on your own time type of event. However, it’s a great way to actually see real trial cases taking place. It’s not like what you seen on TV or in the movies, which actually makes it look easier than it really is. Oh, and if you ever get called to jury duty, I definitely think you should go for it. I myself have never been called, but it does sound interesting to take part in once in your lifetime. It doesn’t pay much (usually around $20/day), but it’s more for the experience and actually getting to be a part of the legal system.

I can’t wait till next semester for Law 2, but I am super pumped up for it. For those forensics students that have never taken any law classes. I can tell you by the end of this class you will learn A LOT about Canadian law and the legal system.

Well that’s all I got for now, so stay tuned for more!
